ENTERING THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE COVENANT

 

 

     

 

 

 

 

What is the Covenant ?

 

- A union contracted between states or sovereigns (an alliance)

- A union by marriage

- A wedding ring (in French)

 

What does Union mean ?  (According to the dictionary )

 

- One only,

- Association or combination of different things so as to make a whole,

- Marriage

 

 

 

1. The Covenant is always at the basis of the relationship!

 

- It’s the indispensable prerequisite to enter into a relationship

 

- It’s not the crowning achievement of a relationship process which

would have reached success

 

- It’s always the means through which God enters

into a relationship with man…

 

 

In Hebrew B’rith = to link, a link

In Greek, Diatheke = to put something into order

 

Both words are translated by « covenant » or « testament »

 

 

 

2. The initiative of the Covenant is wholly God’s!

 

 

3. The modes are exclusively defined by HIM!

 

 

4. Each relationship with the human being is based on a Covenant

 

“ Gather unto Me My godly ones,

those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice! “

( who have cut My covenant on the basis of a sacrifice )

5. It’s the « treasure » of God!

 

 

“The treasure of the Lord

- secret thought, intimacy, friendship -

is with them that fear Him,

that He may make known His Covenant to them! ”

 

Psalms 25: 14

 

 

7. It’s a Covenant of Salt, an inviolable Covenant!

 

 

“All the heave-offerings of the holy things,

which the children of Israel offer to the Lord,

have I given thee,

and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee,

by an everlasting statute:

it shall be an everlasting covenant of salt

before the Lord

unto thee and thy seed with thee”

 

Numbers 18: 19

 

 

 

The concept of the Covenant

is central
